                 Dignity Interview with

                        Frank Pitters

1. Hello! To begin, please could you tell me your name and what instrument you play?

Hi, my name is Frank and I play keyboard.

2. Dignity's new album 'Project Destiny' has just been released. How has it been received so far?

Very good so far. We got a lot positive responses from all over the world. It was great to read that we also got such a positive review from your page. Thanks for that. All this positive responses helps a lot staying self confident and continue with great power on the way we have chosen with our music!

3. Bands that play a cross-over between power metal and hard rock are rare. The only band that I can think of that have done it are Edguy with their 'Rocket Ride' album. Did you ever look to this release for inspiration or any Edguy at all for that matter?

Not really. I mean Edguy is a very cool band I have many records from them. Our guitar player Martin also has their first demo at home. It’s numbered and contained a handwritten sheet from Tobi who thanked for the purchase!

4. The song 'Inner Demons' has a keyboard sound that reminds me of a lot of Finnish power metal bands like Nightwish, Sonata Arctica and early Children of Bodom. Was the Finnish melodic scene an influence on the keys or is it a pure coincidence?

You are right when you think of these bands. In the late 90s when these Scandinavian bands came up they all had a very cool style to play keyboard. A little bit old fashioned but combined with cool modern sounds and an incredible technique. Think of Janne from COB. I mean he is crazy...haha!

5. The band went through countless auditions to find a suitable vocalist before deciding on Jake E. What was it that Jake had that the other people who didn't get the job have?

In Austria it is impossible to find a frontman that we had in mind. He should have a powerful voice, great ideas for lyrics and melody lines and should also look like a frontman. So we checked a lot of bands that we liked, but Jakes work with his band Dreamland impressed us a lot. So it was obvious to get in contact with him. We were really really lucky because he liked the music and had fantastic ideas for vocal lines. And after a short visit in Vienna (where we recorded some demo vocals and killing some beer) he was in the band. He prepared all the vocals in Sweden than he came to Vienna and sang all songs in less then one week! It was a great time with much work but also a lot more fun!

6. With band members living in Sweden and Austria, is it difficult for to get the band together to rehearse and write music?

Internet makes this problem very easy to solve. We send Jake the tracks that we composed and he made all the vocal lines and lyrics. And when we rehearse we do it without Jake. When there is a tour or a single gig he comes down 2 days earlier so that we can rehearse together. But we all think very professional and everyone knows his part to play. SO we dont really need much time in the rehearsal.

7. Do all the band members have an interest in both power metal and hard rock?

One of the best things with Dignity is that all our band members have very different musical backgrounds. John Boy for example come from the punk scene, Martin from the 80s Metal scene, Roland also likes modern Metal like Disturbed and Jake and I listen a lot to Hard Rock or Melodic Metal. So we have a huge pool where we can take our influences of when it comes to songwriting and arranging. This really helps keeping songwriting interesting.

8. Have you ever considered compromising one of these genres that you play so you can be either a hard rock or a power metal band exclusively?

We really don’t think in genres when it comes to composing new songs. Also I don’t like categories, because than you are always compared with other bands. All people that like Heavy Metal should listen to our record, than they have a big chance to discover a great new band...haha!

9. Do you have any plans to tour?

Of course we are looking for gigs and a tour but nothing is confirmed yet. We want to go out on the streets and play, because we are not a studio project. So check our website and myspace site for upcoming dates!

10. Do you have any ideas for the next album and if so how do you think it will differ to 'Project Destiny'?

At the moment we are composing new songs because we want to release the next album same time next year! But it’s to early to say in which the direction the song go and where they will finally end.

11. Are there any last words you would like to say to our readers?

Hope to see you on tour soon in Great Britain to have a good time and enjoy our show! Check out our website www.dignityband.com for tour information and leave a comment in our guestbook!

Thanx for your support!!

Thank you sincerely for your time. I really appreciate it.
