What do Robocop, videogames, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the A Team all have in common? Well yes, they are all products of the 80’s, but then again so are Irish thrash-heads Gama Bomb, who have returned to remind us exactly why they are more infectious than a Zombie at a leper convention. Sophomore album ‘Citizen Brain’ picks up exactly where offensively fun debut ‘Survival Of The Fastest’ left off, with an increase in classic pop culture references only adding to the bombastic mayhem that can be found within.

Be it the Super Mario Brothers (‘Final Fight’), Superman (‘In The Court Of General Zod’) or Space Invaders (er…’Space Invaders’), anyone who’s even heard of the 80’s will find something to appreciate, whilst fans of thrash in the vein of Nuclear Assault and early Megadeth will rejoice in the endless barrage of clunky riffs, ripping solos and metal-as-fuck wailing, usually all to be found in less than three minutes of music. Testament have already bagsied the prestigious honour of releasing the year’s best thrash record, but for laughs and riffs in equal measure, few will match Gama Bombin 2008.
