1. Warriors
Sometimes being a judgemental fuck yields more than just pitying stares and black eyes. For example I have (miraculously) made friends with people simply by getting into massive arguments about politics based on my lazy and wilfully inflammatory opinions. Hearing Exit Tens new single Warriors was another example where I have actually gained something from being a stereotyping arsehole. I was expecting a terrible power metal song or something equally pathetic, but no. Warriors is actually a great piece of emotive (NOT emo!) heavy rock with a great chorus and cool, unpastiche, harmonised riffery. I was stunned. For some reason when your expectations and preconceptions are clearly proved wrong then you’re even more impressed. And so I’ve heard a great band who have made me look like an ignorant fool and taught me once again that things are never quite what they seem. Musically I would liken Exit Ten to a heavier, more interesting Incubus/Hoobastank with more punk and metal influences. That’s a good thing by the way. Honesty, melody and heaviness all in one song. A rarity these days. Good stuff!
