Opinions surrounding the latest instalment from Tasmania’s Tech-Death crazies Psycroptic, were always going to rebound off the major label debate since their signing to Nuclear Blast, however, there is no evidence within ‘Ob(servant)’ to suggest their extremity nor their stance away from the generic flock has been compromised in any way, whatsoever!

Following on from 2005’s ‘Symbol Of Failure’ and enhancing the formula, the sheer tightness of their feral guitar work is sublime, Peppiat’s vocal capability is even more diverse than before and where structure was lacking from their aural mentality before, tracks such as ‘Slaves Of Nil’ and ‘Horde In Devolution’ are honed, precise and packing some serious beef, who said Death Metal had to be downtuned to be brutal, eh?
