Everybody remembers Bleeding Through from being a band from ‘back in the day’ with the hottie behind the synths and all the magazines raving for them to be the next-big-thing; then a couple of videos and dance-floor fillers later they conducted a highly talented vanishing-act, disappearing without a trace. Who once were pioneers of the NWOAHM, were resigned to a dust-filled music graveyard, whilst every hardcore kid with an Ibanez scored with a Bleeding Through influence. ‘Declaration’ is a total rebirth of Bleeding Through, bursting at the seams with malicious intent and a sound that dramatically implies that indeed yes; they are totally fucking sick of being associated with the totally bland and quite frankly beige sub-genre for which the very mention of the name associates.
It’s like every member of the band has gone away, stepped through a magical door and come away a totally different musician. ‘Declaration’ being merely the first in a chain of hyper-tight, decimatingly heavy, wall-of-sound and atmosphere laden platinum-nuggets which incorporate an all star influence never before seen in the Bleeding Through cast. ‘French Inquisition’ blast beats its way through over 5-minutes of bone-crunching riffing and black metal fused grind whilst ‘In Loving Memory of England’ serves as a chilling reminder that yes, the band are human after all. This is an album of sure fire arena tracks, and should make for a fitting change to what was usually expected of them.
They promised change, we got it; and boy did we get it in the gut?! ‘Declaration’ will leave a mark! Listen at your peril.
